Mrs. Joan B. Wells, 67, passed away on Friday, January 7, 2005 at Moses Cone Hospital.
A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. on Monday at Hanes-Lineberry Sedgefield Chapel. Officiating will be the Rev. Keith Purser. Burial will follow in Guilford Memorial Park.
Mrs. Wells was born in Shelby, Ohio, the daughter of Leo and Rose Bucholz Sutter. She retired from Shelby Insurance Company in Greensboro where she worked as a secretary. She was a member of Church Street Baptist Church. Joan was a loving wife, mother and grandmother who deeply cared for her family. She will be truly missed by her family and friends.
Her first husband, Chalmers F. Brisson and one brother, Kenneth Sutter preceded her in death.
Surviving are her husband, Douglas Lee Wells of the home; children, Steven Brisson and wife Darlene of Lawrenceville, Ga., Sharon Cook and husband Jeff of Liberty; stepsons Bruce and Gary Wells of Greensboro; grandchildren Jennifer Cook, Phillip Halcomb, Brandon Brisson and Gary Wells Jr.; three brothers, Butch Sutter and wife Fran of Boston, Mass., Wayne Sutter and wife Donna of Shelby, Ohio, Glenn Sutter and wife Marge of Sierra Vista Ariz.; and sister Thelma Jackson of Shelby, Ohio.
