John August Ehmke, 94, of Grover, CO passed away peacefully February 4, 2014 at Life Care Center in Cheyenne, WY.

He was born March 12, 1919 in Grover, CO to Friedrich and Clara (Schierenbeck) Ehmke.

John grew up in Grover and attended the Pawnee School District.

On January 1, 1973 he married Darlene Kaiser in Cheyenne.

John enjoyed woodworking and gardening.

John was a lifetime member of the Evans VFW Post #6624, a lifetime member of the Colorado Cattleman's Association, and a member of Zion Lutheran Church.

John is survived by his daughters, Bonnie (John) Joerschke of Athens, GA, Donna (Larry) Solberg of Davenport, IA; grandchildren, Steve Pixley of Grover, Renee Zimmerman of Germany, Lisa Letcher of Chugwater, WY, Katy Solberg of Davenport, IA, Anna Joerschke of Athens, GA; 5 great grandchildren; nephews, Leroy Backer, George Ehmke; and nieces, Letha Chambers and Marlene Dunn.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Darlene; brothers, Elmer and Fred; sister, Emma; and niece, Lois Fritzler.
