Born a son of Ralph B. and Eleanor A. (Bill) Maher, Earl married Marsha C. Thompson on July 1, 1989, in Peoria. She survives.

Also surviving are his twin daughters, Ann Maher of Princeville and Janet (William) Cox of Elmwood; one stepdaughter, Chris (Rex) Gamber of East Peoria; one stepson, Kevin (Lorie) Snider of Ottawa, Kan.; six grandchildren; four stepgrandchildren; two great-grandchildren; one sister, Jerelyn (John) Schulz of Tremont; one nephew, Donald (Sheryl) Maher of Washington; and one sister-in-law, Jerelyn Maher of Peoria.

Earl was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Bernie Maher; and one niece, Karen Maher-Lasher.

He was a veteran of the U.S. Army Reserves.

Earl worked for CILCO for over 30 years, retiring as an electrician in 1999.

He was a member of the Peoria Izaak Walton League and was active with the Tazewell County Democrats.

He enjoyed playing cards, golf and fishing. Earl enjoyed life and spending time with his children and grandchildren.

Burial will be in Parkview Cemetery.
