Eugene Anderson, 82, of East Grand Forks, MN formerly of Thief River Falls, MN, died on Sunday, October 6, 2013 at Aneta Parkview Nursing Home in Aneta, ND.

Funeral service will be Thursday, Oct. 10, 2013 at 1:30 PM, at Johnson Funeral Service, Thief River Falls, MN with Reverend Troy Bates Officiating. Burial will be at Greenwood Cemetery, Thief River Falls, MN. Military honors will be provided by the American Legion Ecklund-Holmstrom Post #117 and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post #2793.

Eugene I. Anderson was born December 14, 1930 in Warren, MN, the son of George and Alice (Doran) Anderson. At a young age he moved to Thief River Falls, where he went to grade school at Northrup Elementary and then attended Lincoln High School. Eugene entered into service with the United States Navy on September 23, 1948. He served his country honorably and was discharged September 22, 1952.

In 1951, Eugene was united in marriage to Mary Ann Wetch. The couple had one son, Patrick Anderson.

In 1956, Eugene married Maxine Bothen . Eugene and Maxine had 5 children: David, Michelle, Scott, Alicia and Melanie.

Eugene married to Mavis Leach and they had one daughter, Kelly J.

Eugene was united in marriage to Rita Spicer in Grand Forks, ND. He was the step-father to 7 children: Doug, Casey, Bill, Steve, Julie, Bruce and Jeff.

Eugene was a chef and restaurant manager all of his life. He enjoyed playing golf, hunting, snowmobiling, watching MN Twins baseball and UND hockey.

Survivors include his children: Patrick (Susan) Anderson, Mesa, AZ, David (Mary) Anderson, East Grand Forks, MN, Michelle (special friend Bob) Evenson, Lengby, MN, Scott (Tammy) Anderson, Grand Forks, ND, Alicia Rath, Grand Forks, ND, Melanie Richardson, Grand Forks, ND, and Kelly Anderson, Florida; 7 step-children and their families; 13 grandchildren; 8 great grandchildren; sisters Shirley Timm of Thief River Falls, MN and Margaret (Kenneth) Ose, Roseau, MN.

He was preceded in death by parents, George and Alice Anderson, one sister Delores, a granddaughter Trisha Anderson, and special friend Virgene Norby.
