Lawrence J. Baalmann, 86, retired farmer and dairyman, died Friday, Feb. 7, 2014, at Halstead Health and Rehabilitation.

He was born March 6, 1927, at St. Marks to Henry and Lena (Faber) Baalmann.

He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II, a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church and Knights of Columbus, Halstead. On Oct. 23, 1951, he married Catherine S. Cordell in Aleppo. She preceded him in death Sept. 22, 2007.

Survivors include sons: George Baalmann, Halstead, Joe (Laura) Baalmann, St. Louis, Mo.; daughters: Betty (John) Roths, Conway Springs, Teresa (Shannon) Johnson, Wichita, and Mary Wells, Lees Summit, Mo.; 10 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a daughter: Nancy Ross; two great-grandchildren; a brother: Vincent; and sisters: Gertrude Mies and Rosie Zenner.

The Rosary will be said 7 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 12, 2014, and the Mass of the Christian Burial will be 10 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 13, 2014, both at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Halstead, with Father Edmond Kline officiating. Interment will follow at Halstead Cemetery, Halstead.
