FREDERIKA - Helena Bergmann, 79, died Sunday evening, June 10 at Allen hospital, Waterloo.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, June 13 at 2 p.m. in St. John Lutheran Church, Frederika with Rev. Percy Kvitne officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Rettig Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
She was born Jan. 13, 1905, the daughter of Frank and Elvina Bahlmann Bremer. She married Alvin Bergmann in 1922. The couple farmed near Frederika, and Helena worked at the Frederika Produce prior to her retirement.
Mrs. Bergmann is survived by one daughter, Mrs. Darlene Andrews of Woodridge, Ill., five sons, Everett of Waterloo, Clarence of Frederika, Donald of Evansdale, Harley and Melvin, both of Tripoli, 22 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren, one brother, Paul Bremer of Tripoli and two sisters, Olinda Hagedorn of Ionia and Hilda Holm of Sumner. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband in 1964, one sister, two brothers and four grandsons.
Helena was the oldest child of Frank and Alvina Bremer. She had 5 brothers, Herman and Henry who died in infancy, Paul, Arnold, and Lester; 4 sisters one died in infancy, Hilda (Holm), Adala (Woods), and Olinda (Hagedorn).
She married Alvin C. Bergmann in Leroy Township, Bremer County, Iowa on June 25, 1922.
