Melvin Lewis Hammer, son of Dave and Marinda (Bear) Hammer, was born on February 18, 1952 in Stilwell, Oklahoma and departed this life on Saturday, February 8, 2014 in Siloam Springs, Arkansas at the age of 61 years.

Melvin was a member of Old Green Baptist Church where he was a Deacon.

Melvin enjoyed going to gospel singings and singing bass. He enjoyed reading his Bible daily. He also loved to go fishing, work on cars and playing horseshoes with family and friends. Melvin liked to play dominoes in his spare time. He was always willing to listen to his children and grandchildren when they had a problem or when advice was needed. But his biggest enjoyment was spending time with his kids and grandkids.

He was preceded in death by his parents: Dave and Marinda Hammer, brother: Bobby Hammer and nephew: Dale Hammer.

Funeral services were held at 2 pm on Wednesday, February 12, 2014 at Roberts & Hart Chapel, Westville, Oklahoma with Rev. Bill Woods and Rev. John Hammer officiating. Interment followed at Old Green Cemetery, Westville, Oklahoma. (MillieBelle)
