WILLIAM WAYNE METCALF JR.
William Wayne Metcalf Jr. was the son of William Wayne Metcalf Sr. (1927-1974) & Jimmie Faye Lester Metcalf (1931-2001). He was the husband of Brenda Joan Metcalf Metcalf (1951-2022). They had four children: David Wayne Metcalf (1969) & Tara Ann Metcalf Pressley (1972) & Jesse Nathan Metcalf (1982) & Jacob Monroe Metcalf (1985). He had five grandchildren: Jacob Allen Pressley (1992) & James Nicholas Pressley (1993) & Marah Ellen Metcalf (2006) & Carson Orion Metcalf (2017) & Chloe Luna Metcalf (2018).
He was born in Memphis, Tennessee while his father was stationed at Millington Naval Air Station outside of Memphis. The family moved back to Western North Carolina in 1952 after his father left the U.S. Navy. He graduated from Enka High School in 1968. He met Brenda Joan Metcalf while in high school. They got married on July 31, 1968. He graduated from Mars Hill College with a degree in Religion & Philosophy. He obtained certification to teach from the University of North Carolina at Asheville. He received his Masters Degree in Education from Western Carolina University. He taught History and coached in Buncombe County Schools for twenty-eight years. He retired in 2011. His family was the most important thing in his life. He considered them "God's Blessings to Me."
