On May 9, 1927, a half-mile wide tornado ripped through Nevada, TX, leaving 27 dead, 75 injured, and property damage in exceeding $1 million. John Wilson, husband of Myrtle, was one of the 27 killed. His wife, Myrtle, died the following day.
