William R. "Pete" Abernathy, 81, of Perryville died Friday, Nov. 4, 2005, at Perry County Nursing Home.
He was born Nov. 26, 1923, in Brazeau, Mo., son of Dudley and Ida Mae (Milster) Abernathy.
He and Verlene Milliano were married Aug. 17, 1946, at Perryville.
Abernathy was a World War II Army veteran.
He was a retired bricklayer.
Mr. Abernathy was a member of the American Legion Post 133, a life member of the VFW and AMVETS and a master mason at Masonic Lodge 670 AF&AM.
Survivors include his wife; a son, Gary Abernathy of Perryville; four daughters, Sharon Cissell, Gail Cissell, Janine Mills and Lisa Miller, all of Perryville; 12 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a son, a brother and a sister.
Friends may call today at Miller Family Funeral Home in Perryville. Masonic service will be at American Legion. Visitation continues until time of service Monday.
The funeral will be Monday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Kevin P. Fausz officiating. Burial will be in Mount Hope Cemetery with graveside military honors by VFW Post 4282.
