New London, Aug 15 - Hiram H. Bacon died as the result of a stroke of paralysis at his home herr at 6 am today. He was one of the best known residents here, as nearly all his married life had been spent in this vicinity. He held the esteem of all.

Mr. Bacon, who was a son of Mr. and Mrs. Jonathan Bacon, was born in Rockingham, Fulton County, April 3, 1826. He was stricken four years ago with paralysis and had three strokes, the last occurring August 9, rendering him unconscious, in which condition he remained till death. He was married to Jane Baker July 4, 1850, in the town of Verona. She survives with a son, David E. Bacon of Minden, two daughters, Mrs. Jacob Senn of New London and Mrs. John W. Owens of Rome, a brother, William Bacon of Ohio, and a sister, Mrs. Eliza Bailey of St. Jonsville.

Mr. Bacon was a member of Warren Post, GAR, of Verona. He enlisted August 8, 1862 in Co. E 117th N. Y. State Volunteer Infantry. He was promoted during service to corporal, served three years, being honorably discharged in 1865. He was an honored member of the M. E. Church in New London, having served as trustee. Sunday school superintendent and steward.

The funeral wil be held on Tuesday at the M. E. Chuch. Interment will be made in the Rathbunville Cemetery.
