He was a life-long resident of the area, having been educated in the region and later employed at the Ford Electronics and Refrigeration Corporation where he worked for forty-four years, retiring in 1996. He was a member of the Alquina United Methodist Church, where he had served as an usher. He supported the Fayette County Diabetic Association and in his leisure, he enjoyed working in his yard.
He is preceded in death by his father; his mother, Mary McCashland White; a brother, John McCashland; a sister, Sarah Jane Scott; a half-brother, Alan White and a half-sister, Sharon Cloud.
