Mrs. Royna Mae Cobb age 83 of Blairsville passed away on Wednesday Jan. 22, 2014 after a period of declining health. She was born on Nov. 4, 1930 in San Bernadino, CA., to the parents of Roy T. and Helen Coe. She graduated from the University of Southern CA. in Santa Barbara, CA. She was a member of Chi Omega. She taught school for several years in Murphy, NC. and retired from teaching after twenty five years in Union County. She was a charter member of the Notla Chapter #471 of the Order of the Eastern Star. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Robert Ty Cobb who died in 1996 and a son, Chris B. Cobb who died in 2006 and a brother, George Coe of Redlands, CA.
Surviving Mrs. Cobb are two sons, John Roy Cobb and Robert Ty Cobb both of Blairsville, three grandchildren, Robert, Richard and Jonathan Cobb also of Blairsville.
Funeral services will be held on Friday Jan. 24, 2014 at 2:00pm from the Mountain View Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Ronnie Crisp officiating. Serving as pallbearers will be grandsons, Robert, Richard and Jonathan Cobb and Luke and Matthew Raper and Paul Thompson. Interment will follow in the Bethany Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will meet with friends at the funeral home on Thursday evening from 5-8pm.
