MARY E BELZ
Mary E "Mae" Belz, 98, of Cutchogue, peacefully passed away in her sleep in Cutchogue on Nov 21, 2009. Mae would have been 99 years of age in January.
A strong and independent lady, she successfully owned and operated the Nassau Plumbing and Heating Company in Mineola for many years. Mae was an avid sportswoman, having been an accomplished equestrian in earlier days and a devoted golfer and longtime member of the North Fork Country Club.
Predeceased by her husband, Clarence, she is survived by her brother Thaddeus Shelton and sister-in-law Genevieve, of Cutchogue; brother John Shelton and sister-in-law Betty, of Rockville Centre; and sister Frances Johnson of Lompoc, CA. She was also a loving and generous aunt to her many nieces and nephews as well as their families.
Mae was a devout Catholic and a member of Our Lady of Ostrabrama RC Church in Cutchogue, where she will be remembered for both her piety and charity. Visitation will be held on Friday, Nov 27, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm at the Coster-Heppner Funeral Home in Cutchogue. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, Nov 28, at 10am at Our Lady of Ostrabrama Church. Burial will follow at Sacred Heart Cemetery.
