Lester Adams, Sr., 84, of Big Spring, died Tuesday, February 11, 2014 in a local nursing home. Graveside funeral services will be held at 1:00 PM Saturday, February 15, 2014 at the Peace Chapel at Trinity Memorial Park with Rev. Jim Binnix, officiating.

The family will receive friends from 7:00 PM to 8:00 PM Friday, February 14, 2014 at Nalley-Pickle & Welch Funeral Home.

He was born March 31, 1929 in Big Spring, Texas and married Joyce Wilmuth May 31, 1950 in Big Spring, Texas. She preceded him in death February 8, 2007.

Lester was a lifelong resident of Big Spring. He served in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict. He worked for Big Spring Gin 43 years, retiring as superintendent in 1992. He loved being outdoors, gardening, going to the mountains and fishing.

He had been a member of Phillips Memorial Baptist Church for 28 years and also served as a deacon. He had been a member of East 4th Street Baptist Church and was currently a member of Midway Baptist Church.

Survivors include two sons, Don Adams and wife, Melissa of Big Spring and Joel L. Adams and wife, Kathy of Duncanville; three daughters, Cindy Grizzard and husband, Jim of Grand Prairie, Shirley Harrison of Arlington, and Brandy Griffin of Hurst; eight grandchildren and eleven great grandchildren.

He was also preceded in death by his parents, Ben and Hazel Stephens Adams.
