Alva Mary Linkous, 72, of Christiansburg, Va., went to be with the Lord Friday, September 18, 2009, at Heritage Hall. She was born in Christiansburg, Va. on July 22, 1937, to the late Ed and Rose Fields Akers. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Bobby Linkous; her sister, Edith Cromer; and her brothers, Lloyd Akers, Sydney Akers, Thurman Akers and Lee Akers. She is survived by a daughter, Daphne Linkous, of Christiansburg; two sons and daughters-in-law, Darrell and Phyllis Linkous, of Christiansburg, Tim and Pam Linkous, of Shawsville; six grandchildren, Caleb and Gideon Linkous, Hillary, Ethan, Seth and Abby Linkous; three sisters and brothers-in-law, Hazel Hinkley, of Radford, Edna and Stuart Franklin, of Roanoke, Lillian and Doug Reavis, of North Carolina; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Bentley and Bonnie Akers, of Pembroke, John David and Crystal Akers, of Germany; and numerous nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be conducted Monday, September 21, 2009, at 1 p.m. in the McCoy Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Everette Shepherd officiating. Interment will follow in the New Mt. Zion Lutheran Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 3 to 5 p.m. Sunday afternoon at McCoy Funeral Home, 150 Country Club Dr., Blacksburg.
