A memorial Mass will be at 11 a.m. Monday at St. George Catholic Church in St. George. The Rev. Dan Belanger will officiate. Inurnment will be at St. Patrick Cemetery in Momence at a later date. Memorials may be made to the family's wishes.
She was born Dec. 8, 1924, in Chicago, the daughter of Albert and Martha Paris Lecuyer. She married Lloyd H. Gero on Dec. 15, 1942, in Momence. He preceded her in death on March 15, 1979.
Surviving are two daughters and two sons-in-law, Mary Ann and Howard Kutemeier, of Grant Park, Debbie and Louis Blanke, of Steger; three sons and four daughters-in-law, Walter and Annie Gero, of Bradley, Tom and Liese Zebrun Gero, of Helena, Mont., Dan and Jolene Gero, of Momence, Linda Gero, of Momence; 15 grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; two sisters and one brother-in-law, Shirley and Dick Yort (named misspelled but is Yott), of Denim Springs, La., and Martha Liosis, of Palm Desert, Calif.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents; one son, Lloyd R. "Bob" Gero; one brother, Albert Lecuyer; and one sister, Betty Moek.
After raising six children, she worked at Fife Fabrics in Momence. She later became a senior citizen caregiver for many Kankakee County families.
Mrs. Gero attended St. George Catholic Church in St. George. She enjoyed crocheting, doing crafts, playing canasta and playing her favorite game, bingo. Her most favorite pastime was spending every moment she could with her large family.
