Robert Eugene Abbott, 79, of Royal Palm Beach, FL, formerly of Gardner, passed away February 10, 2014 at Loxahatchee, FL. Funeral service will be held 3:00 pm Monday, February 17, 2014 at Bruce Funeral Home. Burial follows at Gardner Cemetery. Visitation 2:00 pm before the service at the funeral home. Robert was born August 12, 1934 in Kansas City, KS to George and Merna M. (Uttinger) Abbott. He grew up in Kansas City, MO graduating from Manual High School. Bob married Norma Edemann in Olathe on June 9, 1956. He joined the US Marine Corps where he was a Master Gunnery Sgt (E-9). During his service time he earned his Associates in Electronics. Bob retired from his military service in 1972 moving to Gardner where he worked as a technician in telecommunications for Sprint. He then moved to Miami, FL in 1990 where he worked for Williams Telecommunication until his retirement in 1995. Bob loved Nascar and traveling. He will be dearly missed by family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, daughter, Debra in 2001 and brother, Richard Abbott. Robert is survived by his wife Norma, of the home; children: Karen Abbott, Loxahatchee, FL and Linda Abbott, West Palm Beach, FL; four grandchildren: Samantha and Michael Pinkoff , Summer Abbott and Marianna Cazorla; nieces and nephews: George and wife Kay Abbott, Gary and wife Lynda Abbott, Janet and husband Don Forbes; dozens of Edemann nieces and nephews and great niece, Madison Abbott.
