OMAHA — Catherine Ann Caffrey, 66, of Omaha died on Wednesday, Feb. 12, 2014, at Nebraska Skilled Nursing and Rehab in Omaha.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday at St. Mary's Cathedral in Grand Island. The Rev. Jonathan Sorensen will officiate. Burial will be in the Grand Island City Cemetery.
Livingston-Sondermann Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
Catherine Caffrey was born on Oct. 12, 1947, at Grand Island to Martin J. and Catherine R. (Powers) Caffrey.
Survivors of the immediate family include two sisters and a brother-in-law, Rose Mary and her Joe Victor of Golden, Colo., and Eileen Atherton of Omaha.
Also surviving are nieces.
She grew up in Grand Island and graduated from Grand Island Central Catholic in 1969. She received her bachelor's degree from St. John's College in Annapolis, Md., and her master's in Biology from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. Catherine worked as a freelance scientific editor.
She was a member of St. Pius X Catholic Church.
She was preceded in death by her parents; five brothers, Steve, Martin Joseph Jr., Jim, Robert and David Caffrey; and two sisters, Blanche Murphy and Patricia Lambertus.
