MEMBERS OF MOUNT MORRIS LODGE, I. F. & A. M. PAY FINAL TRIBUTE TO EX-SUPERVISOR M . DICKEY, SATURDAY

Funeral Services of Prominent Mount Morris Man Largely Attended Friday Afternoon. Was Active in Church and Lodge Doings and Served Mount Morris Village and Town Well in Numerous Capacities.

The entire community was thrown into sadness last Wednesday morning when the word was passed that former supervisor William Dickey had passed away. Mr. Dickey awoke and turned on the furnace, then returned to his bed where death caused by a cerebral hemorrhage came very suddenly.

Although Mr. Dickey had been in ill health for some time he seemed apparently well and on the afternoon before his death attended a meeting of the directors of the Genesee River National Bank and Trust Company; also enjoying the operetta at the high school on Tuesday evening.

Born in the town of Nunda on February 7, 1864, Mr. Dickey came to Mount Morris when a young man and has made his home here ever since. For many years he had been a resident of Genesee street and his neighborly visits will be missed by his many friends. He was a man with a pleasing character and was held in high esteem by his fellow citizens always striving to promote activities for the betterment of his village and county and never failing in any attempt he might enter. His friendly smile and cheerful way gained for him many friends throughout Livingston county and no higher a tribute could have been paid Mr. Dickey than the floral tribute by his large circle of friends from Mount Morris and vicinity.

In politics he loyally supported the Republican party and in 1927 was elected to the office of supervisor for the town of Mount Morris and served his town in a most efficient manner during the two years he was in office. While a member of the Board of Supervisors he received appointment on important committees and carried out the duties in a most creditable manner; also serving as school director for Mount Morris and interested in every office he accepted.

Affiliated with the Presbyterian church he took an active part in the functions of that organization and served well in various capacities; interested in the welfare of the younger set he was always proud to see that the young folks enjoyed themselves at the annual picnics and helped In the planning of sports and entertainments.

Many years ago he joined Mt. Morris lodge, F. & A. M., and was elected treasurer several terms, besides taking prominent parts in lodge work and always eager to do what he could for the good of the fraternity. He was also a member of Belwood lodge, I. O. O. F. for many years.

Connected with the Galbraith Milling Co. for a number of years he came in contact with many residents of the rural community who always had a good word for Mr. Dickey. He was a member of the Active Hose Co. of the Mount Morris Fire Department and members of that company as well as the Masons attended the services in a body on Friday afternoon. He was also a former member of the Board of Education of the Mount Morris High School and at the time of his death was a director of the Genesee River National Bank and Trust Company.

During the past few years he has been connected with the F. A. Allen Granite Co. and during the absence of Mr. Frank Allen has very, capably carried on the business of the concern.

Besides his wife, he leaves one daughter, Mrs. John D. Pennington of Philadelphia. Pa., and one brother, Postmaster John C. Dickey of Mount Morris.

Services, which were largely attended were held from his late home on Friday afternoon. The Rev. Joseph Sunter of Geneseo, a former pastor of the Presbyterian church here, officiated.

Services conducted Saturday morning from the home were in charge of Mount Morris Lodge of Masons. Rev. Sunter and Rev. Pilgrim officiated and burial was made in the Mount Morris cemetery. The bearers, all members of the Masonic lodge were: H. R. Porter, S. H. Bush, B. L. Templeton, Wm. Fraser, J. Fred Rebban and Geo. A. Bryce.
