Effie Jean (Nared) Mayfield was born September 28, 1927, in Xenia, Ohio to Fred Douglas and Mary (Ewing) Nared Jr. At age 86, she went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday February 5, 2014 with her family by her side, in Columbus.

Preceded in death by her parents, Fred and Mary Nared; husband Moses "Franklin" Mayfield; sons Michael Mayfield, Franklin Mayfield; and daughter, Carol Mayfield.

Jean leaves to cherish her memory; daughter, Mary (Mark) Treece; sons, James (Pat) Mayfield; Wardell Mayfield; grandchildren, Danielle (Isaac) Groce, Shawn (Dana), Rhonda, Michael (Tamara), Lashawnda (fiancé Alex Furman) Mayfield; six great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends
