He died in Massena Memorial Hospital.

He was a son of Everette and Bertha Donnelly Swinyer,

He married Mildred Disotell on June 11, 1949 at the First United Methodist Church.

He worked in the remelt department at Alcoa for several years, retiring at age 62.

He attended school in Vermontville and served in the Army during World War II, in Germany, France and England. He was a member of the Earl J. Santimaw Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1143 and the Alcoa 25- Year Club. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, motorcycling and working on cars and was an avid player of the bones and guitar.

Surviving was his wife; a daughter and her husband, Nancy and Myron Lavigne, Brasher Falls; three sons and their wives, Harold and Elaine and Alan and Angela, all of Brasher Falls, and William Swinyer and Debbie Mank, Delanson; three sisters and two brothers-in-law, Elizabeth and Ron Rowell, California; Maryanne and Dale Adams, Newton Falls, and Barbara Goodreau, Brasher Falls; five brothers and four sisters-in-law, Everette and Terri, Bombay, Truman and Paulette, Potsdam, Mortin and Shirley, Star Lake, Frank "Joe", Connecticut, and Francis and Bonnie, Stockholm, nine grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Three sisters, Bernadette Swinyer, Irene Sloan and Ethel Bickford, and a brother, Glenn, died before him.
