Isabella worked for Department of the Navy during World War II and Williamson County Programs on Aging Herrin Senior Citizens Center for 18 years.
She was a member of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Catholic Church in Herrin.
She was born Feb. 20, 1927, in Locri, Calabria, Italy, to Paul and Maria (Tedesco) Varacalli.
Isabella was united in marriage with John A. "Curly" Calcaterra Sr. on Sept. 2, 1950, in Herrin. He preceded her in death Feb. 3, 2000.
Surviving are two sons and daughters-in-law, John A. Calcaterra Jr. and Deborah of Freeburg, Edward and Kathy Calcaterra of Herrin; four grandchildren, Megan and Lindsey Calcaterra of Freeburg, Rachel and Paul Calcaterra of Herrin; two sisters, Amelia Hadfield of Port Hueneme, Calif., and Jane Walker of Herrin; and a brother and sister-in-law, Paul and Sandy Varacalli of Roseville, Calif.; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband; parents; and two brothers-in-law.
Services will be 11 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 27, 2010, in Meredith-Waddell Funeral Home in Herrin with Monsignor Ken Schaefer officiating. Interment will be in San Carlo Cemetery in Herrin.
