The FIRST Sheriff of Tipton county in 1860. Was appointed sheriff again a month before his death due to the death of the 2nd sheriff elected. He died in office as sheriff of Tipton per newspaper clippings.
Also Jesse was instrumental in help form the first COUNTY FAIR in the state of Iowa.
He helped and supported the building of the first elementary school in Tipton, as well.
