Nettie Celia Vancour, 95, of 1145 Poquonnock Road, formerly of Fishers Island, NY, died Friday at the Groton Regency.
She was born on June 9, 1905, in Holland, VT, the daughter of Fritz Oscar and Ida G. Forbes Osgood.
She was the widow of Frank Erwin Vancour, whom she married on June 22, 1926, in Derby Line, VT.
Mrs. Vancour was a piano teacher for many years on Fishers Island.
She was also the organist at both the Union Chapel and Our Lady of Grace Church on Fishers Island.
She is survived by a sister, Almeda Allen of Newport, VT.
In addition to her husband, she was predeceased by a daughter, Robin Ann Vancour in 1987.
A graveside service will be held at 10 a.m. Monday in St. John Cemetery on Fishers Island, NY.
"Since it was a cold day, the memorial service with music was conducted in the Union Chapel with about 25 people present. Some people made brief comments about Nettie's life on the Island. After the service, everyone proceeded across the street for a brief graveside service. Upon conclusion, everyone returned to church for refreshments and visitation."
