Absalom was born in Kentucky on Nov. 11, 1813, the son of Jack Adams [Absalom also brother of Isaac Adams who married Martha's sister, Gilley] and died near Numa, Iowa on Sept. 20, 1869. He is also buried in Motto Cemetery. His stone says: Aged 55 yrs 10 mo 9 da; thus indicating the shown date of birth.

Absalom was a Justice of Peace for many years on Iowa. He, with his brother-in-law, William Fox, deeded one-half acre to the Public for burying ground, on June 13, 1855. This was later called the Motto Cemetery. It is located in the northern and central part of Pleasant Twp., Appanoose Co, Iowa.

Martha Hill Adams was said to have been a talented singer and all of her children were musical.

From Mrs. Pearl Rudolph Hawkins of Ludlow, Missouri, a granddaughter of Martha and Absalom, I obtained the following Bible Record of their children:

5-1 Cyntha [Cynthia?] Jane Adams born Sept 7, 1836
5-2 Sarah Ellen Adams born May 1[?] 1838
5-3 Jesse Wright Adams born Dec. 14 1839
5-4 Samantha Ann Adams born Aug 19 1841
5-5 William Alvarine Adams born Oct. 16, 1843
5-6 Adam L. Adams born Feb. 4, 1846
5-7 John F. Adams born March 26, 1848
5-8 Isaac Henry Adams born April 9, 1850
