Mary Cross was the sister of Moses C. Winters. They were both children of "Major" Moses Winters that originally settled Winters Gap (now Oliver Springs) in Anderson County. Mary married Elijah Cross in 1828 in Wartburg, Morgan County, TN. Moses C. Winters appears to be the first to be buried in this cemetery. He was buried in 1874,then his son-in-law Daniel Bell was buried in 1880, and his sister Mary Winters Cross was buried in 1881.
