1939-2014

Ivan Dean Adkins (Dean) 75, passed away peacefully on Monday, February 17th at St Luke's Hospital in Boise, Idaho after a short illness. At the time of his death, Dean was surrounded by devoted family, including his wife and loving companion of 56 years, Sharon.

Dean was preceded in death by his parents, his son Robb, and two infant sons.

He is survived by his wife Sharon, his son David and wife Suzanne, son Mark, daughter-in-law Loreli Adkins, son Brad and wife Teresa, daughter Lori and husband Brett Deschamps, daughter Debbie Juarez, and sister Wilma Adkins.

Dean was born in Aberdeen, Washington on February 2, 1939. His father, Harold William Adkins, was a commercial Fisherman. His mother, Harriet Priel Wardle, was a Seamstress. In 1952, Dean and his family moved to the Nampa, ID area where Dean graduated from Nampa High School 1957.On August 6th 1957, Dean married his eternal companion, Sharon Call, daughter of Albert and LaVene Call, in the LDS Idaho Falls Temple.

Dean and Sharon are the parents of 6 children, 18 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren.

Dean was a lifelong member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He dedicated his life to the service of others. Dean labored diligently as a teacher, missionary, and emissary of Jesus Christ. His love of Christ was exhibited in his love for family, children, and those less privileged. Dean championed opportunities for those less fortunate by providing employment opportunities and assistance to countless people during his entrepreneurial career in printing, automotive detailing, roofing, and water treatment. Dean was beloved by his scores of nieces and nephews as "The Monster" who spent countless hours terrorizing them in outside night games. He will be remembered by his grandchildren for the nicknames by which he called them throughout their lives. He will be remembered by his children for his honor, integrity, work ethic, and love for the gospel of Jesus Christ. His wife and eternal love will live in the memory of his love, and the faith that she will be reunited with him in the eternities.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, February 21, 2014 at the LDS Chapel located at 3020 Cherry Lane, Boise. Friends may call to visit with the family on Thursday, February 20th from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. at Relyea Funeral Chapel, 318 N. Latah St., Boise, and on Friday from 10:00-10:45 a.m. at the church prior to the service.

Interment will follow at Dry Creek Cemetery.
