James E. DeWitt, 77 of Logansport, passed away unexpectedly at 8:32 p.m. Saturday, February 15, 2014 in the emergency room of Memorial Hospital.

Born June 7, 1936 in Cass County, Indiana, he was the son of the late Raymond and Thelma (Pufahl) DeWitt.

On November 27, 1958, in Burnettsville, he was married to Marilyn S. (Taylor) DeWitt, who survives

Jim was a 1954 graduate of Galveston High School. He was a veteran of the United States Army, serving two years during peacetime.

In 1998, he retired from Trelleborg Automotive. He was a dedicated employee having worked for 42 when it was known as General Tire and one year under the Trelleborg name.

Surviving with his wife are one daughter and son-in-law, Lauri and Robert Karnick of Detroit, Michigan; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Sharon and William J. Berkshire of Kokomo, and Donna and John Moor of Greentown; one granddaughter, Sheyla Cox; one grandson, Storm Landrum; former grandson-in-law, Patrick Cox; one great-grandson, Griffyn Cox; three sisters-in-law, Donna Roberts of Florida, Janice Monroe and Eloise Berry, both of Logansport; one brother-in-law, Clifford "Sonny" Taylor Jr., of Logansport; several nieces and nephews; and his beloved canine buddy, Rocky.

Services will be held at 3 p.m. Wednesday, February 19, 2014 in Fisher Funeral Chapel with Pastor Ed Johnson officiating.

Entombment, with full military honors, will follow in the Ever Rest Memorial Park, Logansport.

Friends may call from 1-3 p.m. Wednesday, February 19th in the funeral chapel.
