Freddie Lee Maresh, 72, of Austwell passed away on Friday, February 14, 2014. He was born January 14, 1942, in Moulton, TX to Margarette Steinhauser Maresh of Austwell and the late Rudolph Maresh.

He was a teenager when his farming career began as a ginner for Austwell Farmers Co-op Gin. Fred attended Letourneau Tech Institute for a year then transferred to Texas A & I where he earned a degree. He was a chemistry teacher at Refugio High School and Austwell Tivoli; coached Jr. High boys at Austwell Tivoli, and refereed high school basketball games.

After leaving the teaching profession Fred became manager of the Austwell Farmers Coop where he was an active member until the time of his death.

Freddie donated his time as a board member of the Refugio County Appraisal District and Farm Service Agency, was on the Board of Austwell-Tivoli School District and was currently a Board of Director for Moreman Community Gin.

Survivors include his mother, Margarette Maresh; sisters, Charlotte Loughman of Tivoli; Betty Sue Hatton of Victoria; nephews, Rick and Mike Loughman, Russell and Kelly Lee, Seth Hatton and one niece, Tiffany Hatton.

In addition to his father, Freddie was preceded in death by a sister, Linda Carol Lee.

A memorial service will be held 10:30 AM on Thursday, February 27, 2014, at Rosewood Funeral Chapels.
