Services for Alice Ann Garber, 54, Ada, are 2 p.m. Friday at St. Joseph
Catholic Church, Rusty Hewes officiating. Burial follows at Rosedale Cemetery.
A prayer vigil will be held today at 6 p.m. at the church.

Mrs. Garber died May 9, 2006, at her home. She was born Oct. 2, 1951, at
Columbia, Tenn., to James Matthews and Margaret Sue Bumpus Abernathy. She
received a bachelor of science degree in education from the University of
Tennessee in 1973 and a master's in education from East Central University in
1990.

She married Dr. John Garber April 1, 1973, at Columbia, Tenn. Mrs. Garber was
an elementary school teacher at Walls, Miss. She and her family moved to Ada
in 1980. She was a science teacher at Ada Junior High School for many years.
Mrs. Garber was den leader of Pack 13 Boy Scouts of America, was den leader of
the year for the Arbuckle Council for 2005, and a member of St. Joseph
Catholic Church, where she taught Sunday school. She was a Teen Angel
coordinator, worked with Meals-on-Wheels, was a member of St. Martha's Guild,
a Master Gardener, and a member of Our Time Tanti Study Club.

Survivors include her husband, Dr. John Garber, of the home; three sons, Dr.
Gabe Garber and wife Amy, Dr. Lance Garber, all of Oklahoma City, and John
Luke Garber, Ada; her parents, James Matthew and Margaret Sue Abernathy,
Columbia, Tenn.; her mother-in-law, Margaret Garber, Ada; two grandsons,
Alexander Garber and Seth Garber; a brother, John Abernathy, Knoxville, Tenn.;
a sister, Donna Barker and husband Carl, Maryville, Tenn.; a niece, Emily
Barker, Maryville, Tenn.; and a nephew, Allen Barker, Maryville, Tenn.

Bearers will be Jimmy Eppler, Dennis Fine, Dr. Richard McLain, Dale Meyers,
Jeff Butler, and Dr. Steve Hill. Honorary bearers will be Dr. John Huneke, Sy
Fitter, Bob Cristelli, and Jack Richie.

The family says those who wish may make memorials to the Arbuckle Council, Boy
Scouts of America, P. O. Box 5309, Ardmore, OK 73403.
