One of my favorite stories, tragic though. My grandma Hedwig fell in love with a young man named Theodore Stanislawsky. She got pregnant, they were not married. My Great grandma Ida, who was one of the greatest loves of my life and gave me so much, did not approve of Ted and would not let Hedwig marry him. So, when my mother was born she had the birth certificate show that Gladys ,my mom, was her daughter. Mom never found out until after high school and from a friend of hers. Mom and dad got married then. Ted did meet them and wanted to become a part of their lives, but mom said no not as long as Ida was alive, she outlasted Ted. Ted did not marry until late in life and never had any children. He died in his late fifties. He is buried not fifty feed from Hedwig! Mom never spoke of this either. This is the short story.
