Ruth Elizabeth Abercrombie was born to Lafayette and Amanda Abercrombie near Elm Springs, Ark., May 4, 1877, and departed this life at her home near Logan, Ark., Saturday, Feb. 24, at 11:20 a.m. at the age of 62 years 9 months and 29 days.
She was converted at an early age and united with the Methodist church and lived a consecrated Christian life until she was called home. She portrayed her cheerful and sunny attitude in adversity as well as in her property.
She was united in marriage to Bela W. Leach on Oct. 15, 1899. To this union seven children were born.
Funeral service was held at the Logan church Monday, Feb. 26 at 2:00 p.m. with Rev. Fred R. Hamilton in charge. A quartet composed of Mr. and Mrs. Ray Mitchell, Mrs. Mildred Backer, and Mr. Fred Lillard, accompanied by Mrs. Thelma Woody at the piano, sang "Jesus Lover of My soul", "A Land Where We'll Never Grow Old", and "How Beautiful Heaven Must Be".
Survivors are her husband, B. W. Leach; one daughter, Mrs. A. M. Guthary of Gentry; four sons, Hubert and Harrison of Chicago, Robert of Oregon, Ill. and Ira of Springdale; four grandchildren, Bobby Gene and Patricia Guthary, Gloria Joy and Richard Leach; one sister, Mrs. D. G. Redden of Spokane, Wash.; six brothers, Will of Lewiston, Idaho, Sam and Clifford of Pawhuska, Ok., Jim of Siloam Springs, Harrison of Prairie Grove, and Clint of Great Bend, Kan.; many other relatives and a host of friends.
Pallbearers were nephews; Elmer, Nathan and Barnett Leach, George Abercrombie, James Oliver and Hunter Farrish. Flower girls were nieces: Irene Abercrombie, Minta Leach, Dona Thomason, Laura Moss, Lorene Morris and Nina Woody.
Burial was in the Yell cemetery at Robinson under the direction of Wasson's Funeral Home.
