Octavy Bentley was born October 11, 1931 in Zavalla, Texas. She grew up in Zavalla and graduated from Zavalla High School. Tavy loved being with her friends in school and church, singing and playing the guitar. Tavy met Charles Thomas Fulton in the fall of 1950 and they were married on August 23, 1951. She was a loving wife and mother. Tavy was a devoted Christian and member of Ridgewood Church of Christ. She enjoyed her family, friends, gardening, animals and loved country music.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Thomas Edward Bentley and Lettie Mae Grimes Bentley; one brother, Hubert Bentley and two sisters, Alma Ferguson and L.M. Patricia Turner.
Survivors include her husband of 62 years, Charles Thomas Fulton of Beaumont, two daughters, Sharlene Annette Mullikin and her husband Ron Mullikin, of Houston, Sharon Elizabeth Thompson of Beaumont, and one Son, Tommy Lynn Fulton of Indian Rocks Beach, Florida. Three grandchildren, Sarah Elaine Thompson of Beaumont, Caitlyn Cory Mullikin and Cameron Sean Mullikin of Houston. Nieces and nephews include, Linda Skarke of Beaumont, Mike Turner of Galveston, George Ferguson and Joyce Annette Lovell of Alto, Texas. Great nieces and nephews are Laura Dart, Thomas Mosley, Edward Skarke III, Charles Frederick Skarke and Jerry Fulton.
Services for Tavy begin with visitation on Saturday, February 15, 2014 from 2:00 to 6:00 PM. The funeral service will be at 3:00 PM on Sunday, February 16, 2014. Both visitation and the funeral will be at Forest Lawn Funeral Home in Beaumont, Texas. Rick Walker, Minister at Ridgewood Church of Christ is officiating. Burial will be at 11:30 AM on Tuesday, February 18, 2014 at the Houston VA National Cemetery.
