William Parsons Dies in Lovelock
William Parsons, a native of Pyramid City near Pyramid Lake, died suddenly in Lovelock shortly before midnight Thursday. He was 68 years old.
Mr. Parsons was born in Pyramid City when that community was larger than Reno. He was born Feb. 3, 1885 and moved to Reno with his parents when he was four years old.
He attended grammar school in Reno later enrolling at the high school here.
Mr. Parsons was a member of the Washoe county posse which captured a band of renegade Indians Feb. 26, 1911 after the Indians had killed four white men.
For many years, Mr. Parsons was superintendent of the Gerlach and Waltz Cattle Co. near Gerlach and in 1938 was named superintendent of the CCC camp near Gerlach, a position he held until the start of world war two when the CCC was abolished and he retired.
Mr. Parsons also was active in mining and owned extensive mining interests near Winnemucca.
