Henry E. Erickson, Jr., age 86, died June 29, 2011 in Citrus Memorial Hospital, Inverness, Florida. He was born April 14, 1925 in Sheffield, PA and lived in Jamestown, NY until moving to Inverness in 1995. He is survived by daughters Sheila (Don) Dikeman of Inverness and Sherry (Phil) Fonti of Falconer, NY; grandchildren, Andrea (Dan) Fonti-Voeltz of St. Petersburg, FL and Patrick Fonti of Falconer, NY; step-children, Donald (Lindsey) Lopus, Barb (Brian) Thorpe, and Shelley (Milt) Swanson, all of West Ellicott, NY; and one sister, Gladys Pierson of Sheffield, PA. He was preceded in death by his wife, Marion Haskell Erickson, parents, Anna and Henry Ercikson, Sr., a brother Homer Erickson, and seven sisters, Alice Gacek, Ada Salupo, Frances Detota, Doris Holquist, Patricia Denardi, Lawanda Meddock and Ruth Carter. He was employed by Marlin Rockwell from 1950 until his retirement in 1985. He served in the Merchant Marines prior to serving in the US Army during WW II. He was Heavy Machine Gunner in Central Europe. He received the Army of Occupation Commendation Medal, European African Middle Eastern Campaign Medal, and WW II Victory Medal. Henry volunteered for fifteen years serving as Lieutenant in the Citrus County Citizens Crime Watch Patrol. His hobbies included carpentry, gardening, traveling, and caring for his cats. Henry will be sadly missed for his smile and sense of humor. Cremation arrangements were under the direction of the Inverness Chapel of Hooper Funeral Homes.
