Nathan was born to Gregory Allen Garis and Kathy Lynn Garis (nee'Case) on December 5, 1989 in Enid, Oklahoma at Bass Integris Hospital. He was born into a family with a brother Brandon Scott, and sisters, Kacie Renee'and Kathleen Elizabeth "Katie". When Nathan was 3, he attended pre school in Enid. In 1995, his fathers work, moved the family to Ripley Ok just east of Stillwater.

He loved playing on the 10 acres of land they lived on with his siblings. In the tree house with Katie, and eating ripe strawberries from the small patch growing by their new home. His father put up a zip slide for he and Katie. They spent endless hours playing in the tree house or zipping from behind the tree house and across the creek behind their home and back again. In 1995-1996 school yr, he attended Kindergarten at Ripley School.

In June of 1996 the family took a vacation to Canada. Visiting Paramount Studios Canadas Wonderland theme park north of Toronto and seeing other sights along the way. The kids played in Lake Erie while camping in the famiky RV on that trip. Nathan brought home rocks from Canada and Lake Erie to add to his "rock collection".

When school began again for 96-97, he again attended Ripley Schools 1st grade. In June his father was transfered with Conoco closer to the main offices in Ponca City Ok. The family's new home wasnt ready yet. So they lived for 1 month in the "Gate House" of the Marland Estate there in Ponca City . It was a wonderful adventure for Nathan and the family.

In 1996 Nathans grandfather, Olin Case, was diagnosed with terminal cancer and died May 19, 1997 after a long battle. His death was very difficult for the entire family, especially for Nathan because he was so
young.

The family moved into their home near Sooner Lake at Red Rock Ok shortly after . On June 5, 1997, without his
mothers knowledge, Greg took Katie and Nathan swimming at the Sooner Lake swimming area when the Conoco pool was closed. He didnot pick up lufe jackets for the kids. Katie was drying off and Nathan was on Gregs back. Greg apparently became exhausted and the 2 became seperate, got into distress and were struggling as Katie, alone, screamed for help. But help arrived too late. Nathan and his Daddy passed away that day . Always remember, its never worth the risk!
