Hilda was married September 10, 1929 to Benjamin Harrison Gregory,Sr. (#125420496) The family lived a military life as Ben was a military Army soldier. Ben retired from the military in 1945 and died in 1952. Hilda and Ben were the parents of 10 children. They ranged from the age of 23 to 2 years when their father died in 1952. Hilda was unable to care for all the children.
Ben and Hilda's fifth child was Susan and she was about 12 years old when her father died. Susan and the three younger children,(Stanley, Maxine, and George ) were put in an Orphans Home, (I think in Tacoma,Washington.) The children were all adopted, and the older children never knew where Maxine and George grew up.* A son Donald b. about 1946 d. in 1947 in Tacoma. Susie and Stanley were adopted by Frank Ashley and Ada Irene Colyar-Butler.
Hilda May died 13 Feb 1961 in Tacoma and is buried at New Tacoma Cemetery. Susan and some of Hilda's other children attended her funeral.
Susan married my nephew, Richard Bryant in 1963 in California and they returned to Texas after he was discharged from the service. They had no children and divorced in about 1987.
Susie remarried to John Evans after 1987 and lived in Shelton, Mason, Washington where she died May 14, 2012 . She was cremated.
