Berniece went up to heaven on Sat., Nov. 23, 2002. She was born in Kapowsin, WA, Sept. 28, 1925. She is survived by her devoted husband, Walter, of 32 happy years of marriage; her precious children, Joanne (James) Welch, Bremerton; Michael (Kathy) Starget, Methow; Casey (Sandy) Starget, Florida; Nancy (Craig) Camm, Bremerton; and an infant daughter Patricia Ann Stargel. Also included are Kay (Dan) Anable, Anita (Richard) Pope, both of Bellingham; Tim (Linda) Vailencour, Roy; Mike (Lore) Vailencour, Algona; Pat (Ruth) Vailencour, Puyallup; Rita (Pierre) Levasseur, Texas; John (Meg) Vailencour, Spanaway; Margaret Vailencour, Bellingham. And of course her 50 plus very dear to her heart grandchildren and her many great-grandchildren; her sisters Betty (John) McDonald, Eatonville; Kay (Fred) Hecox, Roy; brother Duane (Norma) Reichel, Eatonville; and her only surviving aunt Gertrude Schulte. Berniece was preceded in death by her parents John and Beatrice Reichel, her brother Clifford Reichel, aunt Catherine Richmond, uncle Frederick “Fritz” Smith and uncle Jack Smith. Berniece was a descendant of a pioneer family and member of the Cowlitz Tribe. She was retired from the Federal Civil Service, Madigan Occuptional Health. She is a former member of the South Tacoma Baptist Church and recent member of Evergreen Baptist Church. A memorial service and reception will be held Sat., November 30, 2:00 p.m. at Fir Lane Funeral Home and Memorial Park, 924 East 176th St., Spanaway, 98387. Fir Lane Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
