Byron A. "Corky" Foster, 88, Topeka, passed away Saturday, February 22, 2014 at the V.A. Medical Center in Leavenworth, Kansas.

Corky was born July 11, 1925 in Topeka, the son of Clarence Byron and Flossie (Dick) Foster. He attended Highland Park High School.

He served in the U. S. Army during World War II, traveling halfway around the world.

He worked for Hall Lithographing for 50+ years, retiring in 1992, having served as President for the past 18 years.

He was a member of Topeka Bible Church, and formerly a member of Knollwood , Seward Avenue and Highland Crest Baptist Churches, where he served on the Deacon and/or Trustee Boards. He was also a member of American Legion Post #1, formerly a member of the Topeka Chamber of Commerce and Printer Craftsman's Club.

He enjoyed bowling, fishing, playing softball, camping and traveling in his RV.

Corky married Bridget Sommers on April 15, 1947 in Topeka. She survives.

Other survivors include daughters, Sue (Mike) Galbraith, Littleton, CO, Sharon Wright, Janet Norris, Janis (James) Roberts, Dianna (Dana) Bloom, all of Topeka; 9 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; 8 great-great-grandchildren; brothers, Franklin (Donna) Foster, Topeka; and sisters, Marilyn Jacobs, Newark, OH, Donna (Pete) Mack, Woodinville, WA, and Lavonne Foster, Topeka.

He was preceded in death by a grandson, James E. Roberts, Jr.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, February 28, 2014 at Penwell-Gabel Mid-Town Chapel. Burial will follow at Mount Hope Cemetery. Corky will lie in state at the funeral home after 2:00 p.m. on Thursday and visitation will be from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m.
