Dorothy was the daughter of BF and Beulah South. Mrs. Peel was a member of Highland Heights UMC for over 80 years, serving her church community and her Lord in many capacities. She taught Sunday school. She sang in the choir, sometimes playing the organ or piano. She taught leadership classes and organized and led retreats. United Methodist Women. Wesley Senior Housing. Established the Fall Fling and helped start the Neighbor Center. At various times she served as president of several Methodist women's organizations, and last year, at age 84, she was elected president of the Methodist Hospital Auxillary.

Dorothy married William L. Peel, a Master Sargeant, USAF, with whom she had 1 son and 2 daughters. Billy died in 1972 in the crash of a C-124 TN Air National Guard transport. The crash killed eleven. He was buried at Arlington National Cemetery on July 28, 1972 with another master sergeant and a major, an M.D., with full military honors.
