OBITUARY-
GRAND MEADOW -- The funeral for Pearl J. Bustad will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Marshall Lutheran Church in rural Adams, with the Rev. Shari A. Mason officiating. Burial will be in Marshall Lutheran Cemetery.

Mrs. Bustad, 84, of Grand Meadow, a former Adams-area farm homemaker, died Saturday (May 3, 2003) at Meadow Manor Nursing Home in Grand Meadow.

Pearl J. Erie was born July 23, 1918, in LeRoy, grew up in the area and attended a country school. On Dec. 17, 1936, she married Oscar Bustad at St. Olaf Lutheran Church in Austin. They farmed for many years until their retirement. Mrs. Bustad lived in a home in Grand Meadow for several years before moving to Meadows Assisted Living. She was a member of Marshall Lutheran Church, circle and WELCA and the Farm Bureau. She had been 4-H bread leader, and she enjoyed gardening, baking, quilting and music.

Survivors include a son, James (Mollie) of Taopi; two daughters, Joann (Jay) Nesbitt of Grand Meadow and Diane (Gary) Lawson of Reads Landing; 13 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; two brothers, Glen (Edna) Erie of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, and Arlo (Rose Ann) Erie of LeRoy; and a sister, Arlene Skifter of Grand Meadow. She was preceded in death by her husband, a son, an infant daughter, a grandson and three sisters.

Friends may call from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Adams Funeral Home in Adams and an hour before the service Wednesday at the church.
