Ms. Chernay worked as a secretary to the Superintendent of Warren Woods School District for over 20 years, retiring in the late 1980's. She was a member of St. Martin De Porres Catholic Church, Warren where she served as a eucharistic minister and donated much of her time assisting with various festivals and other social activities at the church. She also volunteered her time at St. Joseph Home for the Aged, Detroit and with the Red Cross. As a young lady, she was able to study theater in New York. Her passion allowed her to perform with local production companies over the years and volunteer countless hours at many of Detroit's finer theaters such as; The Fox, Fischer and Detroit Opera House.
She is survived by her brother John Chernay of Warren and several nieces, nephews, and many friends. She was preceded in death by her sister Helen Templeton, father Clement Cherniawsky, mother and step-father Agnes (nee Kawucha) and Joseph Wisniewski.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, January 4, 2007 at 9:30a.m. at St. Martin De Porres Catholic Church, 31555 Hoover Rd., Warren. Visitation will be in the Harold W. Vick Funeral Home, 140 South Main Street, Mt. Clemens on Wednesday, January 3, 2007 from 3:00p.m. until 8:00p.m. with a Rosary Recital at 7:00p.m. She will lie instate at the church on Thursday from 9:00a.m. until the time of service. Burial will be private at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery, Southfield.
