Manfred E. Kaiter departed from his life, March 27, 2006. He was born Nov. 21, 1935 in Altdamm, Germany, and escaped later to Canada. He eventually settled in Texas, where he married the sister of the late singer, Buddy Holly. He co-authored a book, "Making A Run For It: From Berlin to Texas", the story of a German refugee during the World War II. He was a master stone mason and sculptor.

Survivors include, daughter, Ingrid Holly Kaiter and granddaughter, Addison Lee Kaiter; stepchildren, Eddy Weir, Gina York and Cindy Graves.
