Ruth was a retired bookkeeper and the mother of Chicago filmmaker Harold Ramis, died of complications from diabetes in Highland Park Hospital. She worked for about 25 years at M. Snower & Co., a division of textile maker Opelika Manufacturing Corp. Born in Kentucky moving to Chicago when she was young. She married in 1941 to Nathan Ramis and raised two sons, Steven and Harold.
Ruth is survived by both sons, husband, two sisters, Rose Schwartz and Rochelle Kramer, a brother, Jordan Cokee and three grandchildren.
