sabel Lydia Harrington, age 92, of 72 Church Street, Saranac Lake, died Sunday, February 23, 2014 at her home.

Born in New York City on March 24, 1921, she was the daughter of Axel Hjalmar and Louise (Carlsen) Enroth. Isabel married James August Harrington on April 25, 1953 in Glen Cove, New York. He predeceased her on August 16, 1998.

Isabel had been employed as a commercial and portrait artist studying under George Bridgeman and Harvey Dunn. She loved the outdoors, enjoying camping, hiking, canoeing, skiing and sailing with her sailboats she had in Long Island Sound. Isabel volunteered at the Adirondack Medical Center for over 25 years and as a member of the Ladies Guild at St. Luke's Episcopal Church in Saranac Lake. She also was an avid reader and gardener.

She is survived by three sons Geoffrey Harrington and his wife Patricia of Saranac Lake, Christopher J. Harrington and wife of Karen of Saranac Lake, and Matthew M. Harrington and his companion Wanda Caughil of Saranac Lake, 6 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her father and mother.

Funeral arrangements are in care of the Fortune-Keough Funeral Home in Saranac Lake. There will be no calling hours. A graveside service will take place in the spring at the Harrietstown Cemetery in Saranac Lake.
