A loving and beloved mother, grandmother and great grandmother "GG", was born in Turlock, California to Antonio and Lena Jorge. Alice, aka "Duchess", spent many hours in her early years with her cousins the Andre girls Mary, Evelyn and Madge. She met and married a Modesto boy, John Escobar, in 1940. They raised two boys, Jim and Steve, on a dairy farm in Turlock.

In 1959 they gave up dairy farming and moved to Modesto. John joined an old friend in real estate for a few years and Alice went back to school to become a steno typist. She then went to work for the Bank of California in Modesto. They moved to Stockton in 1966. John went to work for the City of Stockton Parks Department. Alice continued with the Bank of California in Stockton and advanced to the position of Assistant Vice President over a career of some 23 years, retiring in 1983.

John passed away in 1981. Alice remarried in 1983 to Erman Veretto and spent the next 5 years traveling and enjoying life. Erman passed away in 1988. Alice then focused on hobbies and making many friends in knitting and sewing clubs like Haute Couture. Living in a gated complex she made many friends among her neighbors. She was a devout Catholic and regularly attended services at Saint Bernadette's. She also took advantage of courses in computers and photography provided by University of the Pacific and San Joaquin Delta College.

Step grandson Ron Hutchison (Andrea) and their sons Cory and Chase. Step grandson Doug Hutchison (Suzanne) and their children Nick, Kristen and Tyler.
