Basil Fields was the son of James Henry Fields and Nancy Gibson. Basil married three times:

1. Patry L. Shirley, Nov. 11, 1922, Metcalfe Co., Kentucky
2. Dora (England) Froedge, March 8, 1931, Metcalfe Co., Kentucky
3. Evie Catherene Davis, Oct. 7, 1967, Bartholomew Co., Indiana

Basil T. Fields, 71, of 1433 Sycamore, died today at Bartholomew county hospital after a long illness. He retired in 1965 from Golden Foundry company.

Funeral services will begin at 10 a.m. Wednesday at the Barkes, Inlow and
Weaver funeral home. Burial will be at Garland Brook cemetery. Persons may call at the funeral home from 3 to 9 p.m. Tuesday and Wednesday until time of services.

Fields was born Jan. 31, 1902, Medcalfe county, Ky., to the late James and Nancy Gibson Fields. He first married Patrie Shirley, who died in 1929; he then married Dora England on March 8, 1931, and she died March 1, 1966. He then married Evie Davis in August of 1967, and she survives.

Other survivors include 10 children, James Fields of Route 4, Carlos Fields of Route 7, Garnett Fields of Nashville route 4, and Henry and Paul Fields, both of Phoenix, Ariz., Mrs. Hubert Bennett of 561 Center, Mrs. James Burton of 3310 25th, Mrs. William Saltsman of Route 4, Mrs. Raymond Harper of 635 Daugherty and Mrs. Ronald Houshour of Nashville route 1.

Several stepchildren also survive along with three brothers, Thomas of 621 Second and Virgil and Evan, both of Glasgow, Ky. ; two sisters, Eunice Jessie of Bowling Green, Ky., and Mae England of 606 Patterson; 32 grandchildren and six greatgrandchildren.

He was preceded in death by three sons, Albert and Joseph and John Phillip, who died Sept. 15, one brother and three sisters.

He was a member of the Friendship church.
