Arthur was a twin to George, sons of Patrick Joseph and Laura Ann Padgett Cunningham, and brothers to Sr. Florina (Earnestine), Julia A. (Hickman) and Sr. Mary Laura (Leah).
The parents were both born in the Daviess/Martin County area of Indiana of well known and respected families. For a time in his early 20's Arthur lived in St. Louis, Missouri, but by WWI he was working as a teamster at the shipyards in Stockton. By 1942 and WWII he was working for the Moraga Company of Moraga, Contra Costa, CA.
