Margaret "Margie" Crozier Ayres died February 10, 2010 at The Haven in the Summit in Columbia.

Margie was born February 10, 1921 in Honolulu, HI, the daughter of the late Esther Hofgaard and Campbell Crozier. She was married to her husband of 63 years, David B. Ayres, Jr. of Geneva, NY. She was preceded in death by her husband; sister, Barbra Campbell; daughter-in-law, Carol Ayres; and grandson, Scott Hannon.

She is survived by her four children, Barbra Jones of Clemmons, NC, Jane Hannon and her husband, Vic of Camden, Bruce Ayres of Advance, NC, and Cece Boyne and her husband, Bud of Beaufort; sister, Betty Nicholson of Honolulu, HI; six grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren.

Margie attended Pennsylvania Academy of the Arts in Philadelphia, PA, and Syracuse University where she met her husband, David. Margie was active with the Honolulu Academy of Art, Bishop Museum, and was a member of the Daughters of Hawaii. She was a life long active and sustaining member of the Junior League working with the Children's Theatre in Hawaii, Chicago, Richmond, and in Roanoke, VA. She was a member of the PEO Sisterhood for over 50 years and the Pi Beta Phi Sorority. At every family move Margie was always quick to become active in her community, church, and organizations. Margie and David moved to Martha Franks Retirement Center in 1993 and again endeared themselves to their community and church. Margie's many passions centered on family, friends, food, art, flowers, golf (with her boyfriend David) and community. As always, she lived in many places and loved many, but especially loved her Lord, her husband and her family. Words cannot describe Margie's "bigger than life character" on all those that she touched.

Memorials may be made to the Scott Hannon Memorial Foundation, PO Box 3448, Irmo, SC 29063; or PEO Sisterhood, 3700 Grand Ave. Des Moines, Iowa 50312; or the charity of your choice.
